May Kilt Night

  • Old Black Bear Brewing Company

Our May Kilt Night will be at Old Black Bear Brewing in downtown Madison, AL! They'll have us out in the lovely Beer Garden. In addition to drinks, Old Black Bear also has a food menu!

There is no cost to attend this event (other than what you buy to eat/drink) and it's open to everyone regardless of membership. We don't have a presentation scheduled, so just come and go when you can! Kilts and other Scottish wear are, of course, welcome but certainly not required.

We will have a members-only drawing at 6:30. Please register below by entering your First and Last Name. For family memberships, all members of the family that will be in attendance are welcome to enter their name. Otherwise, when you arrive, check in with whoever is manning the table. If you're paid up, your name will be put in the bowl. You can also renew or join. Winner gets his or her next drink free!

Tenn South Whiskey Tasting and Tour

  • Tenn South Distillery
Tenn South Distillery

Tenn South Distillery

Join the Tennessee Valley Scottish Society in a tour and tasting at the Tenn South Distillery! Located between Pulaski and Columbia, TN, it's about an hour and 15 minutes away from Huntsville. If you'd like to caravan up from Huntsville, we'll meet at the Home Depot off Pulaski Pike (1035 Memorial Pkwy NW, 35801) at 9:00 AM for a 9:15 departure.

We'll plan to arrive at Tenn South about 10:30 AM. We'll sit in the taproom for a bit for a FREE tasting, and then take the tour (which I hear is fantastic!)

There is no cost to attend and it is open to everyone, regardless of membership.

This is our first field trip to a distillery. If it goes well, we'd like to do more in the future!

Scottish Photoshoot on Green Mountain

  • Madison County Nature Trail

We will be hosting a photo event at the Pavilion at the Madison County Nature Trail on Sunday August the 20th from 3 - 6:30 PM. This will be an opportunity to have photos taken in your highland best (or worst?) in nature. Backdrops include the woods, lake, covered bridge, not-covered bridge, log cabin, wooden chapel, small man-made waterfall, swing, and more! We do have a professional photographer planning to join us from  You are also welcome to B.Y.O.C - Bring Your Own Camera! Several of us will be at your service to walk around to take pictures for you.

Not interested in being in pictures? Not a problem! Hang out at the pavilion and enjoy nature or each other's company. You are more than welcome to bring any food or drinks you like - except alcohol.

The Nature Trail is located on beautiful Green Mountain which is in South Huntsville. The Pavilion is just inside the main gate and has a gorgeous view of Sky Lake.

The Nature Trail closes thirty minutes before sunset. During the Summer, it will close at 7:30 PM. Because they need time to clean up the Pavilion, they request we begin packing up at 6:30 PM. But the figurative doors do not close until 7:30 PM.

The Pavilion is an open breezeway with picnic tables, ceiling fans, bathrooms, and coke machines!

There is no cost to attend.

It is open to everyone, regardless of membership.

No dress code required. The mountain is usually 5 - 10 degrees cooler than the valley.

PLEASE be careful driving on Green Mountain and obey the speed limit, which is mostly 35 MPH. Much of the mountain is still forested and animals, including deer, raccoons, oppossums, armadillos, and foxes, are routinely seen on the road. Cars also ocasionally drift over into on-coming traffic.

Scots Invade the Gardens

  • Huntsville Botanical Garden
Japanese Garden

Japanese Garden

Huntsville Botanical Garden's Spring Plant Sale is Friday April 7 - Sunday April 9. This is also during their Huntsville Blooms and Spring Showers Event. What better way to celebrate Spring than running amok in kilts and looking at plants? The cost to attend is the entrance-fee to the Botanical Gardens, which is $12 for adults.

At this time, we aren't hosting a formal event in that we aren't meeting at a designated location at a designated time. But feel free to coordinate in the comments below and we can be sure to have a nice photoshoot - and there are plenty of beautiful locations like the Japanese Garden above!
